In a match which would aptly decide the credentials of both teams, Pakistan will take on South Asian Tigers Bangladesh on Tuesday in the T20 World Cup.
The Bangla tigers are coming into this game on top form as they finished 2nd in the preceding Asia Cup.
They defeated Pakistan in a heartwarming fashion as Bangladesh finally look the real deal in the world of cricket.
With the likes of Mustafizur Rehman, Shakib Al Hasan and Taskin Ahmed all in top form – it is probably the first time in their history that Bangladesh will enter in a game against Pakistan as the favourites.
Pakistan, on the other hand are coming into this tournament with shoulders slumped and heads held low.
They recorded just 2 victories in the Asia Cup – 1 of which came against minnows United Arab Emirates while the other came against a visibly beleaguered Sri Lankan side.
So when Afridi and his men step onto the ground on Wednesday, their reputations will be at stake.
Back home, criticism has mounted on Afridi after his comments regarding “love from the Indian audience”.
Moreover, his form has been poor of late as well which makes the task all the more difficult for the 34-year-old.
Looking at the Pakistani side coming into this game, there will be only one notable change in their squad from the one that played in the Asia Cup.
Ahmed Shahzad has been included in the Pakistani squad in place of Khurram Manzoor. In addition to his inclusion, Anwar Ali is also back in the Pakistani lineup after missing on in the Asia Cup.
Here is the probable Pakistani lineup to face Bangladesh in their World T20 Opener on Wednesday:
Ahmed Shahzad – Sharjeel Khan – Mohammed Hafiz – Sarfraz Ahmed – Umar Akmal – Shoaib Malik – Shahid Afridi (c) – Anwar Ali – Mohammad Sami – Mohammad Amir – Mohammad Irfan
