How
To Put a Little 'Boo!' In Your Halloween Costume With Scary Colored ContactsScary colored contacts, as with anything that's spooky, frightening
or just plain weird, are just about perfect (and much sought after) for Halloween.
Cosmetic or "special effect" lenses are a great way to 'bring out the
monster in you' as it were, and serve to complement almost any Halloween outfit.
What remains the most frightening aspect of these lenses however, is how much
they cost. Hand-painted lenses are by far the most expensive, and can run in excess
of $300 a pair, while mass-produced lenses can go for a sixth of that price. The
advantage of the former is that they are often custom-created and it's possible
to acquire a pair of contacts that no-one else might have, or at the very least
greatly increases your chances of having a unique pair of 'eyes'. Moreover, hand-painted
lenses are without doubt the best looking contacts available. While exorbitant,
the price can -- depending on how fervently you celebrate the holiday -- be justified
by the end result. Scary Price? Not As Scary As Red-Eye!Among the
cheaper options out there are CIBA Vision's WildEyes range. Available in eleven
different designs, these are a decent solution for the budget-conscious ghoul.
One thing that cannot be stressed enough, and something that seems to take a backseat
during most any holiday, is safety. For the sake of you and your friends, contact
lenses should not be shared, even if 'it's just for a second'. Bacteria and micro-organisms
on the lens can cause serious eye infection or the lenses may not properly fit
someone else leading to irritation and even chronic eye maladies. It could possibly
be argued that something like that would make for a killer Halloween effect, but
the pain and discomfort can't be taken off quite as simply as the rest of your
costume. Just a word to the wise. 'Alright already!' say the prospective
undead, 'just show us the goods.' Happy to oblige. Linkified oh-so conveniently
on the right side of this page are an assortment of ophthalmic goodies (including
friendly priced scary contacts) for Halloween, and just about every other day
of the year as well. So what are you waiting for? A pulse? Hop to it. |
