Color
Vision Corrective Lenses - Colormax makes them. Do They Work?
Despite the term 'color-blind' people suffering from color-blindness
are seldom devoid of all color sensation. Usually, they are unable to distinguish
only a few colors from one another; the rest they see as we all do. The degree
to which people suffer from color-blindness differs markedly, but for the most
part they are, to put it simply, unable to distinguish certain colors or hues
from one another. It is a hereditary ailment (though accident or disease can bring
about some form of the condition) most common among males - one in every dozen
men suffers from color-blindness to an extent. A product of ColorMax
Technologies, ColorMax lenses appeared on the market some years back and purport
to 'cure' color-blindness. The colors the human eye perceives are comprised of
varying levels of red, green, and blue, and the ColorMax corrective lenses work
by enhancing the red levels in whatever the user sees. In essence, these color
vision lenses only affect the contrast (brightness or darkness) of colors, making
them easier to distinguish, as opposed to actually making the true colors visible.
In short, they're far from an optimal solution. Moreover, the lenses are
only suitable for sufferers who are unable to distinguish colors such as red and
green, and not others. While few people can agree as to the exact efficacy of
ColorMax color vision lenses, what everyone does agree on is that they're exceptionally
expensive. A pair of lenses can cost as much as $700. For considerably
less expensive ophthalmic solutions, eye care products of all manner and shape
can be found using the links to your right. |
