What You Need To Know About Multifocal Toric Contact Lenses
2005
Used by sufferers of astigmatism, hyperopia, and myopia, toric
lenses are specialized contact lenses that have, in recent years,
become available as multifocal
soft contacts and in the process given rise to a host of lens
colors and replacement schedules. It is multifocal toric contact
lenses, however, that offer true convenience for the wearer as they
provide, in one lens, the necessary vision correction for astigmatic
and presbyopic sufferers.
The combination of these functions is facilitated by the design
of the lens. Toric contacts provide two different powers within
the same lens in order to correct for the necessary near and far
distance requirements of the wearer. In multifocal design, it is
not so much a cut-and-dried case of 'near' and 'far'. Instead, the
lens is created (usually using a concentric 'ring' design) to offer
progressively changing powers in order to provide a gradual transition
from one distance to the next. In this way people need not only
have clear vision at one extreme or the other, 'losing' their middle
vision in the process, but a broad spectrum of viewing possibilities.
Although multifocal torics are typically found in RGP (
Rigid Gas Permeable ) lens form, as mentioned above it is possible,
based upon your specific needs, to obtain a soft contact prescription.
As always, it is a good idea to consult with your preferred eye
care professional in order to best ascertain what it is exactly
that you require. After all, what we want and what we need is not
always the same thing, now is it?
We, on the other hand have both, what you want and what you need.
At least as far as it pertains to contact lenses, lens care and
other ophthalmic treatments (You're on your own as far as that Ferrari
is concerned). So, while you're here be sure to browse the links
on the right.
