Proactive contact lenses are soft contact lenses that offer
wearers excellent comfort and visual acuity. Proactive contact
lenses are one- to two-week disposable contact lenses. The lenses
may be prescribed for either daily wear or extended wear. With extended
wear, the user can wear the lenses from one to seven days before
having to remove for cleaning and disinfecting or disposal.
Proactive contact lenses and visibility tints
Proactive contact lenses are
visibility-tinted contacts. Visibility tints are not designed
for cosmetic purposes. The lenses do have a light blue tint, but
the tint is designed to help the wearer better see his or her lenses
during insertion and removal, or if the lenses are dropped.

The lenses are sold as "Proactive 55" contact lenses.
The product is sold by the box, with each box containing six lenses.
Proactive 55 contact lenses also are sold under the private label
"Smart Choice 55." These are identical lenses produced
by the same manufacturer.
The lenses are manufactured by Ocular Sciences, Inc., a San Francisco,
Calif., company that was acquired by CooperVision in 2005. CooperVision
is a leader in the development of contact lenses.
