Soft Disposable Contact Lenses - things to consider
before buying and using this type of contact lens
There can be many advantages to soft disposable contact lenses.
However, there can also be many things to consider when thinking
about purchasing soft disposable contact lenses.
There are several varieties of soft disposable contact lenses that
basically vary based on how often they are disposed. The most common
lengths for soft disposable contact lenses are daily, weekly (or
every two weeks), and monthly. Which type of soft disposable contact
lenses are right for you will often depend on personal preference.
Daily soft disposable contact lenses are the easiest because there
is absolutely no storage or cleaning required. However, they tend
to be the weakest of the soft disposable contact lenses, the most
prone to ripping or drying out your eyes after extended wear. Daily
soft disposable contact lenses also tend to be more expensive although
they do not require buying expensive solutions or enzyme cleaners.
Weekly soft disposable contact lenses do not require enzyme cleaners
because when the protein build ups start to accumulate you discard
them. They simply require regular cleaning and soaking in saline
disinfectant solution. However, soft disposable contact lenses that
are going to be worn any longer than that should be cleaned to remove
build up of proteins that can be harmful to your eyes.
The problem that many people run into with soft disposable contact
lenses is that they are almost too comfortable so people will continue
to wear them longer than is recommended. While this may work, it
is not technically a good idea because the soft disposable contact
lenses are acquiring protein build ups and also may be more prone
to tearing or other wear related issues if used longer than suggested.
Overall, soft disposable contact lenses are great for convenience,
but do have some downsides that need to be considered if you are
going to purchase them.
