CRT Lenses or Paragon Corneal Refractive Therapy, one of
the most innovative products on the market today
Paragon Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) contact lenses are
one of the most innovative products on the market. Paragon has the
only brand of CRT lenses that are FDA approved.
Paragon CRT lenses are a unique rigid gas permeable lens that are
worn at night and are designed to reshape the cornea while people
sleep. Paragon CRT lenses can help to correct myopia (nearsightedness)
by flattening the cornea during the night so that light passes through
it correctly and lands on the retina. (When it does not do this,
that is what causes myopia.)
Paragon CRT lenses only temporarily fix the problem, as the cornea
gradually reverts to its natural state. However, most people find
that if they wear Paragon CRT lenses while they sleep at night,
they can take them out in the morning and see naturally for the
rest of the day without contacts or glasses.
Paragon still has the exclusive rights to their CRT lenses, so
if you are interested in this technology, you will have to visit
one of their certified eye doctors. Paragon estimates that the cost
of CRT lenses after the initial fitting and first year will balance
out to be about comparable to other types of lenses. However, some
sources estimate the cost of the initial fitting for Paragon CRT
lenses to average between $1,000 and $1,500. All eye doctors must
be Paragon approved, but the price still varies by doctor.
If you are looking for a less permanent option than laser surgery
but still want to be free of contacts or glasses during the day,
then Paragon CRT lenses may be the answer for you. However, if you
are looking to be free of the hassle of contacts entirely, than
Paragon's solution may not be sufficient to satisfy you.
