Acuvue Toric

The Acuvue Toric lens is specifically designed to comfortably fit the unique shape of the astigmatic eye

If you have astigmatism and thought you couldn't wear soft contact lenses, think again. Put aside your eyeglasses, because Acuvue Toric Brand Contact Lenses, created by Johnson & Johnson, are exceptionally comfortable soft contact lenses made especially for people like you.

How does Acuvue Toric work?

The Acuvue Toric lens is designed to comfortably fit the more irregular shape of the astigmatic eye. In astigmatism, the front surface of the eye has an irregular shape, similar to an egg, while a non-astigmatic eye is shaped more like an orange. The surface irregularity in an astigmatic eye causes a point of light entering the eye to bend unevenly, forming a distorted image. People with astigmatism may have blurred or distorted vision when looking at a distance or at items close up.

Astigmatism can be corrected with eyeglasses or contact lenses. Many people with astigmatism believe that they can't wear contact lenses, or that only rigid contact lenses (RGPs), also known as hard contact lenses, can correct astigmatism, but this is no longer true. Some soft lens designs, called toric contact lenses, can correct astigmatism. Acuvue Toric is a toric contact lens. Also, depending on the type and severity of astigmatism, refractive surgery may be a treatment option.

What does Acuvue Toric have to offer?

Acuvue Toric contact lenses provide:

  • outstanding visual clarity.
  • comfort.
  • UV-blocking technology. Research shows that ultraviolet (UV) light has been linked to the formation of cataracts. Overexposure to UV light also may result in a condition called photokeratisis. Not all companies offer lenses with UV protection. Johnson & Johnson does...with Acuvue Toric. It is the only soft toric contact lens with this feature.
  • Unique Dual Thin Zone Design(TM) for rotational stability. This designs enables Acuvue Toric to offer the user less interference or distortion when the eye moves or blinks.

Acuvue Toric are weekly disposable lenses and are available in one- or two-week usage limits.
