Color Contact Lens

How to decide which Color Contact Lens to wear, soft or rigid, opaque or enhancement lenses, crazy or theatrical contacts

The meteoric rise in the popularity of wearing color contact lenses over the last 5 years is quite probably unheralded in any other industry. Today, color contact lenses are used by all - from the Rich and Famous, like Tom Cruise in the Mission Impossible films, to the everyday man and woman in the street. But this endless choice of lenses to wear brings with it a question: How can you determine whether or not color contact lens wearing is safe for you?

First of all, prior to wearing color contact lenses, you have to be aware of whether or not you require prescription contact lenses. In the event that you do need to wear prescription contact lenses, then it is likely that you'll need your color contact lens to match that which you usually wear. Should you not need to normally wear lenses, then you'll likely need to get zero strength lenses. Mindful of this fact, you then need to familiarize yourself with the huge selection of lenses available.

Once you have familiarized yourself with the selection available to you, you then have to decide whether you wish to wear soft or rigid lenses. Soft lenses are gas permeable and whilst some think they are more comfortable to wear, there is no doubt that they will not last as long as the rigid ones. However, although rigid lenses are made of a more sturdy material, and thus will last for much longer than the soft lenses, some people have been known to complain that the rigid lens irritates their eyes. A final consideration is cost, rigid color contact lenses will cost you more in initial outlay, but they should also last longer.

Having decided whether to wear soft or rigid lenses, all that is left for you to do is to decide whether to wear crazy contacts, theatrical contacts, or colored contacts. And to also enjoy looking through some of the vast array of colors and artwork available.
