Disposable Bifocal Contacts do the impossible; simultaneously
correct two eye defects
Disposable bifocal contacts are lenses that aid those suffering
from presbyopia. Presbyopia is a condition of the eye sometimes
called shortsightedness, which in effect means that when you read
materials you need to hold them away from your eyes. In addition
though, bifocal lenses also assist those with distance vision problems;
hence their name - "bifocal" contacts.
Initially, bifocal lenses were only available in both soft and
hard permeable materials. In 1999, however, the first set of disposable
bifocal contacts became commercially available. The latest development
in this type of contact is the daywear throw-away double-focus lens,
available in multi-packs, which allows the wearer to dispose of
their contact on a daily basis, starting each day with a new pair.
Although not for everyone, as it does take some time to become
used to them, one main advantage that bifocals have over other contacts
is that they allow the user to be able to simultaneously correct
two eye defects - distance vision and near vision - without the
need for multiple-use lenses. In this regard, the different prescription
powers of the lens blend to allow your eye to differentiate the
proper power for the correct distance.
So, it is now possible to enjoy all the advantages of bifocal eyeglasses
in easy to use bifocal contacts, either as frequent replacement
lenses or as disposable bifocal contacts; allowing you all the usual
freedoms and advantages of normal contact lens wear, without the
need to be tied-down with all of the usual restrictive disadvantages
that can occur when wearing eyeglasses. It should be no surprise
to learn then that disposable bifocal contacts are the lens of choice
for those suffering from distance and near vision problems.
