Contac Lens

Evolution of the Contac Lens, first lenses were of glass and invented in the year 1508

Plastic lenses emerge in 1940s. Contac lenses are extra-thin disks that an eye care professional fits on the cornea to correct vision. The contac lens works by empowering the cornea. It's almost unbelievable that the idea of wearing a contact to correct vision was first conceived in 1508. This early version was made of glass. It was until the 1940s that the plastic version surfaced.

For the most part, people choose to wear contact eyewear for vanity reasons. This thought is certainly understandable. Glass often slide down the nose and are very conspicuous. Contacts are virtually undetectable.

There are millions of people in the world who enjoy the benefits associated with wearing a contac lens. The reasons for wearing them are as varied as the people. The wide variety of contact eyewear is in response to a developing market. There are now so many types available. Manufacturers of contact corrective lenses seem to spend a great deal of time developing the next new type of contact. Right now you can choose contac lenses for a particular eye condition, for a specific length of time, and with decoration or tinted.

You have just as many choices or more when selecting a contact eye specialist or contact lens vendor. There are many vendors available online or other places where people shop. Although it is possible for these vendors to be trained , there really is no substitute for the knowledge and experience of an eye care professional. Contact vendors, online or otherwise are not equipped to examine your eyes for health problems. For the most part, all they do is sell you contacts.
